The DDL Wizard Feedback

We get lots of pleasant e-mails regarding our DDL Wizard software. Listed below are some of the nice comments people have made. We are interested in your opinions and suggestions for new features. Feel free to send us a note.

Note: Some of these comments refer to the DDLWizard as the DBATool. Its same software - just a new name.

I find the wizard to provide a valuable service since no PL/SQL IDE on the market today has a built in DDL formatter. Some of them reverse engineer a few objects into a handsome format, but if you throw hand-created DDL or exported DDL at them, they don't know what to do with it. The DDL puked out by exp is so awful, that I rely on your wizard to give me trimmed, slimmed and beautified DDL that I can use for our purposes. Thank you very much for providing it. It's awesome!

Your product is really a big help to me when I need to recreate all DDL scripts for my databases. We are facing a major funding issue in higher education and any useful tool I can find, and utilize, for very low or no cost is a great benefit. It is easy to use and the scripts it creates allows me to recreate objects easily. We also use the scripts to store the code for version control. Thanks so very much for making this available.

I want to thank you for a great program. I am current experimenting with it because of an upcoming replatform effort

I just downloaded the DDL Wizard and ran it against an Oracle exp dmp file. I was asked to try and recreate “build scripts” for an Oracle 817 database that has no documentation or complete scripts. I couldn’t believe, that everything actually worked without any problems, and the fact that it is freeware! This has really saved me a lot of time and energy, and made a difficult task easy to perform. I’m certainly glad I found you on the internet!

The DDL wizard to extract the DDL out of the oracle export file is, well , amazing!! 10/10. Again all I can say is brilliant!!

I briefly looked at the tutorial and went right to work. It significantly shortened the time needed to replicate portions of one database to another. This is a very good product.

I love the product, it really is a blessing.

After some testing I have to say the DDL Wizard is brilliant. By localizing your effort to reverse engineering the export log instead of the database itself you have created a very elegant product which is far easier to maintain as Oracle versions change. The care taken to understand the DBA's need to tailor the outputted DDL (especially removing the storage clause of the create table statements) impressed me. Thanks for creating this product and I'll certainly keep it in my battery of analysis and operational tools.

Your DDL Wizard is fantastic. We're moving our production customer billing database (contains account data for 8,000 customers and telephone call detail records in the high 10's of millions of records) from one Oracle instance to another this weekend as part of a software upgrade. We have about 50 Userids and over 500 tables and views that need to be moved, with many role assignments that need to be altered and synonyms than need to be changed. Without your Wizard, we would have had 2 to 3 staff members working through tonight to make the needed updates. With your Wizard, we were able to generate the needed changes in about 2 hours, including the time it took to learn how to use the product. It has been an extremely pleasant experience to use this product.

I am a command line type person and don't usually use gui's to do my job. However I like the concept of the 'DDL wizard' and have fed a lot of export files into it. It quikcly gives me the source of an object which is easier than writing SQL to get at it. Thanks

Thanks for creating this awesome software (and keeping it free).
BK

Just wanted to say this is wonderful utility :) Again, thanks for the wonderful work.

I found your tool very useful! It is a convenient way to get the complete DDL of an Oracle database.
SR

I have downloaded and used your software. DDLWizard is very useful and powerful software and most of all it is free (I couldn't beleive)! So, I thank you very much for sharing your software as free.

I spent last hour evaluating and testing DBATools and just want to tell you that I'm *really* impressed by your DbaTool (and btw. I'm not easily impressed person!!). Thank you, ... for such a great tool and for a generous decision to provide the software for free. It's definitely one of the best Oracle tools that I saw in the last decade - don't know for any faster and/or easier way to document, reverse engineer or rebuild Oracle database, there is no match to DbaTool!

Thanks for the great product.

This is a great tool!
SN

I have to say, it is an excellent tool!

We are very appreciate to your works and your courage to distibute this software free. It is very helpful for us to manage our source code. Before knowing this good software, we manage our SQL-related-source manually. You save our hands very much. Fortune will bless you & your company. Very Thanks.
KJH

This tool is super-helpful.
SF

Thanks again. Very useful utility indeed.

I came across this Tool while browsing the net to find tools that can generate DDL scripts for me. This tool is reallly helpfull and it saved lot of my time while i was migrating the databases from NT to Unix.. Really appreciate the tool.

First, thank you very much for making such a wonderful tool. i never actually thought of this kinda software but it proved to be very handy. thanks a lot and another lot for making it free to use.
MS

It´s a great piece of software!!

The tool saved me a lot of time and errors. I had to duplicate 40 tables with many constraints and indexes to a new set with different names. The only task I had to do was to rename the tables, contraints and indexes and since the scripts created from the tool were well organised that was an easy task. Thank you very much.

We've found it very useful for creating copies of our prodn databases to make a like for like copy in test environment prior to implementing major changes.
DB

A thing like this has been on my wishlist for some time.
GZ

I think it's a really useful tool for reverse-engineering DDL from existing DB's. Keep up the good work!
AW

The tool was extremely useful. It helps us save lot of time in creating ddl's..

The tools I've used in the past all have limitations and inaccuracies (SQL-Navigator, TOAD, PL/SQL Developer, etc.) In particular, no one seemed to do partitioned tables correctly. In this case, I used the DBATool to read my export file so I could prove to the makers of [name deleted] that their reverse-engineered DDL is incorrect. To find "freeware" software was a pleasure.
BC

The tools I use ddl-wizard to create separate files for oracle schemas. I use it to backup up-to-date info of my database. I really like this product!
FP

Thanks very much for producing DDL Wizard - it's a bloody great tool!
